My Favorite US History Lesson

Sound familiar?  This song was originally one of the hits of the 2000s and was a break up letter from a guy to his girl.  PERFECT basis for a song about the US breaking up with England.

As I reflect on last year's history lessons, I have decided that the American Revolution was my all time favorite unit from the entire school year.  Why?  There was murder, secret meetings, spies, rebellion -- all the makings for a great story.  BUT THIS WAS ALLLL REAL!

Can you imagine how King George III felt after his beloved AMERICA LEFT HIM???  They had spent so much time and money and invested so much in colonizing America and were looking forward to years and years of profit from the mercantilism that kept England rich.  But, after tea taxes and harsh acts, and denial of what the colonists considered God-given rights, America said NO MORE!  They had only one thing to say to the English government:  It's too late to apologize!
